The president of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives, Antonio Soto, revealed yesterday that even while the balance of the next budget may be “finite,” they will amend the document on what they understand to be the limits imposed by the Oversight Board (JSF).

Soto indicated that for the time being it is understood that the General Fund’s budget will be close to $9.2 billion. The goal, with the amendments, would be to generate efficiencies in addition to those explored by the Executive in a way that they adjust to the payment of government retirees and payments by the Mi Salud Program, once the funds allocated by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) run out.

“There are efficiencies still pending our approval and new revenues’ measures. For example, if we pass the medicinal marihuana bills we would have funds in addition to that forecasted,” said Soto.
