Facing a new hurricane season -which begins this Sunday-, more than 80% of the Puerto Rican population faces moderate or high “social vulnerability” to a disaster in aspects ranging from poverty to access to health insurance, which led experts in the field to urge a response from the State and the strengthening of organizations and communities, which have assumed a vital role since the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017.
