In Culebra, 16 women from different professions joined forces to found Mujeres de Islas, a community initiative that, with the help of AmeriCorps, a US government agency, rehabilitated the Antonio R. Barceló school, one of hundreds of schools closed during the past decade, to provide multiple services, including food, to the most vulnerable population on the island municipality.
