It is a court case that changed the discourse and perspective of a country. It bears the name of a mother who, for decades, wanted her daughter to get a proper education; a name that became synonymous with struggle and that, for years, has been the face of hundreds of families who, like her, have faced a complex and bureaucratic system that has not always served children with disabilities in Puerto Rico well.
