Almost three decades after the implementation of the first Public Order Code in Puerto Rico, this tool—a set of rules to regulate coexistence in specific spaces—has become one of the main strategies used by municipalities to reduce criminal activity and promote civic behavior, to the point that three city councils are about to enact their own rules.
