Evidence of the impacts of climate change in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean continues to accumulate, along with calls for governments to take action while there is still time. An analysis of climatological records from 1971 to 2025, led by a Puerto Rican professor at the University at Albany, New York, found that extreme heatwaves in the region are now more frequent, longer-lasting, and more intense.
