The current liquidity crisis in the electrical system stems not only from contractual disputes with LUMA Energy, but also from the gap of hundreds of millions of dollars between post-emergency expenses and the federal reimbursements received, as well as from delays in preparing audited financial statements. These factors prevent a clear understanding of the complex situation affecting the transmission and distribution network operator, Genera PR (which manages the generation fleet), and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) itself, according to an analysis by El Nuevo Día.
