Healthcare services for patients with end-stage chronic diseases have gradually become a growing necessity in Puerto Rico, to the point that they account for approximately $142 million in economic activity and support some 1,417 jobs, according to a new analysis conducted by Estudios Técnicos, Inc., (ETI). This is despite the fact that the island is the jurisdiction with the lowest utilization of hospice services among deceased patients covered by Medicare.
