In the first four months of 2025, the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) documented a “quite marked” reduction in the number of immigrants without defined status who are detained in illegal boats or yachts on the shores of Puerto Rico, compared to the same period last year, confirmed the spokesman for the federal agency on the island, Jeffrey Quiñones, who attributed the drop to the anti-immigrant policy of President Donald Trump.
