Young chemist Grecia Geigel Rodríguez became the first Puerto Rican to receive the prestigious Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) scholarship, which will allow her to spend a year in Belgium specializing in pharmaceutical manufacturing. At the end of that term, she hopes to return with tools that will help transform the local industry, which would include facilitating the creation of more cost- and production-efficient drugs on the island.
