Beyond mobilizing state resources to investigate the “prank” scheme that victimized a San Juan municipal police officer, the incident of the “influencer” arrested for offering false information to an officer demonstrated the risks of the disproportionate use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) to create misleading scenarios, something that, in the opinion of experts consulted, merits urgent legislation to further regulate this type of technology in Puerto Rico.
