The Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority’s (AAPP) Office of Independent Procurement (3PPO, in English) ordered Genera PR and New Fortress Energy (NFE) to activate an alternative mechanism to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a solution to a standoff that has prevented fuel deliveries for nearly a week and forced the use of diesel at the San Juan power plant, tripling electricity generation costs.
