prima:Oversight Board’s ultimatum to the government for deficiencies in internal controls over financial reporting

The Board asks for a response to the findings identified by the government’s auditor, KPMG, and contained in reports for fiscal years 2020 and 2021.

In the letter signed by Robert Mujica, executive director of the Fiscal Oversight Board, he mentions that the government does not carry out periodic evaluations of its internal fiscal controls and has not taken steps to remedy the issues highlighted in previous reports. (Nahira Montcourt)

Although the Treasury Department implemented a plan to comply with issuing the annual comprehensive financial reports (CAFR), that exercise has shown that the government continues to fail to implement internal controls to ensure the proper use of public funds, according to the Oversight Board.
