The Puerto Rico Supreme Court - in a 6-3 vote - expanded the discretion police officers would have to conduct raids without a warrant in properties that appear to be abandoned, by validating that people in those contexts do not have an expectation of privacy, which, for jurists consulted, represents a “dangerous” ruling because it expands the powers of the authorities vis-à-vis citizens.
