Vieques - Upon entering Roberto Ayala Salgado’s blue house in the La Hueca neighborhood, one senses a familiar and welcoming atmosphere, but it conceals a great deal of effort. The Vieques resident struggles daily to keep his wife, a stroke survivor, breathing by his side amid all the medical, economic, and transportation challenges they face on Isla Nena, which has been waiting for a hospital since 2017.
