prima:125 miles for a dream: two Puerto Rican prospects and the daily sacrifice on the road to the Major Leagues

The top two baseball prospects at the Carlos Beltrán Baseball Academy (CBBA) in the municipality of Florida travel from two distant corners of the island, their paths converging in more ways than geography alone. (Alejandro Granadillo)

Florida — Jhosuil Colón wakes up at 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, to leave early enough from Juncos and arrive on time at Plaza Las Américas in San Juan. Emanuel Hernández has to get out of bed even earlier to make it to Plaza del Caribe in Ponce by or before 5:15 a.m., even though he lives in that same city.
