Far from promising that there would be no service interruptions, the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) and LUMA Energy assured that, if a tropical storm or hurricane hits the island during the new season that begins June 1, the response to the emergency would be better than after Hurricane María in 2017, when some citizens lacked power in their homes for up to a year.
