LUMA Energy and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) insisted on Tuesday that the increase of 4.265 cents per kilowatt-hour –or 16.6 percent– in the electricity bill, requested for the April to June quarter, responds to the rise in the global price of oil, and argued that the streak of increases will diminish as the generation with renewable sources increases on the island.
